Nissan Casting is a manufacturer of cast aluminium products. In this case, their requirements were for a self contained, automated cell to quality check castings as they came out of a trimming press. This cell comprised of
- A robotic arm, to transfer the parts from station to station.
- A leak testing station, to check parts for porosity.
- A measuring station, to electronically measure the position of datum features on the parts and discarded any failures to a reclamation bin.
